Oppose Vouchers, ESAs, and Tax Credits for Private Education

DFER D.C. does not support vouchers, education savings accounts, or tax credits for private education. These policies divert public funds away from schools that serve the majority of D.C. students. 

Oppose Private Charters

We oppose efforts to create private religious charter schools. Public dollars must serve the public good, and should not fund institutions that are not accountable to families or that exclude students based on who they are.

Champion Public Education

Public education is a public promise. Every student deserves access to a high-quality, free public school. We are committed to strengthening D.C.’s public and public charter schools, which welcome all students and are accountable to the communities they serve.
